Died: October 9, 1872 in Sacramento, CA

1870-1872: Trustee, California State Library

  • His son, who also went by the name James W. Coffroth was born in Sacramento on September 12th (a little more than a month before his father died). The younger Coffroth "was the first large-scale boxing promoter" and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1991.
