  • In 1883, Ashe saved former Governor John G. Downey from the wreckage of a train crash at Tehachapi.
  • Ashe was the first of five husbands of Amy Crocker. Her fourth and fifth husbands were Russian princes; Prince Alexander Miskinoff and Prince Mstislav Galitzine.
