- NOTABLE COMMITTEE: The "Subcommittee on Impact of Enemy Attack on Economy and Constitutional Government of the State of California" was created to create a state policy for maintaining a continuity of civil government and during a large-scale atomic attack by the Soviet Union. The laws created by the committee included lengthening the Gubernatorial line of succession and permitting the Governor to appoint temporary legislators in the event that more than 1/5 of either house was killed in an attack.
- Kilpatrick was the oldest member of the Assembly in 1962 at age 75.
- PLACENAME: "Juvenile Camp Vernon Kilpatrick" served as Los Angeles County juvenile detention camp in Malibu from its construction in 1962 until its closure in 2014. Between 2014 and 2017, the site was razed and rebuilt as a $48 million dollar facility. Since 2017, it has operated as "Campus Kilpatrick."
