- Supreme Court Decision: In June 1948, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a law authored by Hugh P. Donnelly, SB 413 (1945), was unconstitutional. The law, which prohibited the sale of fishing licenses to persons "ineligible to citizenship", was found to violate the Fourteenth Amendment. (Takahashi v. Fish and Game Commission, 334 U.S. 410)
- Legislation: Author of SB 1598 (1955) which made it a misdemeanor to include a "horror comic book" in the sale of any other publication. A "horror comic book" is any comic which depicts the commission of the crime of arson, assault with caustic chemicals, assault with a deadly weapon, burlary, kidnapping, mayhem, murder, rape, robbery, theft, or voluntary manslaughter.
