CLOSE CONTEST: In the 2022 Primary, Rigard was the third place candidate at the end of election night, trailing Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra by 447 votes. By the end of June 8th, Guerra's lead had fallen to just 50 votes. However, in mid-June the results began to swing in Guerra's favor and Rigard had fallen to third-place (by 2.3%) by June 23rd (the day he died).
