  • LEGISLATION: Author of AB 587 (Chapt. 269, Stats of 2022) requires social media companies to post their terms of service for their platform including the user behavior and activities that are permitted and those that are not. It also requires social media company to submit an annual report to the Attorney General (starting in 2024) that would include the current version of the terms of service for the social media platform, specified categories of content and what policies the social media company has for that platform to address that content, and data related to violations of the terms of service for each platform. Currently under litigation as X Corp. vs Bonta (24-271).

  • NATURAL DISASTER (WILDFIRE): The most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history and possibly the most expensive wildfire in U.S history (the Palisades Fire in January 2025) occured within the districts represented by State Senator Ben Allen and Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin. By January 11th, the fire had burned full across AD42, from the ocean to the mountains. By January 13th, the fire had crossed the crest of the eastern Santa Monica Mountains (Mulholland Drive) and into areas represented by State Senator Henry Stern and Assemblyman Jesse Gabriel.
