Married: Sharon Gilberd (m. 1964, div.)
Children: Kelly and Tyler
Died: March 29, 2023 in Berkeley, CA

- Legislative Altercation: On March 21, 1974, Meade fought with Assemblyman Lou Papan. Papan got a black eye, but Meade had to get 15 stitches to fix a head wound and was hospitalized for two days. According to Papan's Oral History Project interview, the cause of the fight was caused by a misunderstanding over Papan's refusal to vote for a Meade bill in Committee. An article in the LA Times described the injuries as "Meade suffered a black eye, a deep cut above the right eye that required stitches and a possible concussion, while Papan was unmarked... The San Francisco Examiner Thursday said Meade threw a cup of coffee in Papan's face and Papan retaliated with a fist to Meade's eye..."
