  • OUCH: Dibble lost a leg in fighting at Port Hudson, Louisiana in June 1863.
  • LEGISLATION: Author of the Dibble Act, also known as the Dibble Civil Rights Act (Chapt. 108, Stats of 1897) which established that "all citizens within the jurisdiction of this State shall be entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, and privileges of inns, restaurants, hotels, eating-houses, barber-shops, bath-houses, theaters, skating-rinks, and all other places of public accommodation or amusement."
