Died: November 17, 1864 in San Francisco, CA

  • OUCH: Buckley was injured when his ankle was caught in a coil of rope during the launch of the USS Camanche (a Passaic class "ironclad" monitor) that was launched on November 14, 1864. The injuries required the immediate amputation of his leg, but he still died three days later.
