George Pendleton Johnston
Born: August 6, 1826 in Breckinridge Co., Kentucky
Died: March 4, 1884 in San Francisco, CA

Previous: Sheriff, Somewhere in Mississippi

  • Legal Troubles: Johnston fought a duel with William I. Ferguson on Angel Island in 1858 following a "convivial altercation" at a saloon in San Francisco on August 19th. The duel, with pistols, lasted four rounds, until Ferguson's thigh bone was broken.
