1884-1885: President pro Tempore, California State Senate
Later: Physician, Southern Pacific Railroad

  • His son, Benjamin K. Knight, was Santa Cruz County District Attorney (1899-1914), Superior Court Judge (1914-1924), Associate Justice, 1st Court of Appeals (1924-1947). Dr. Knight's grandson, Benjamin Bliss Knight, served as Santa Cruz County District Attorney from (1935-1942) and then declined reelection to join the Marine Corps for WWII. Benjamin B. would serve with the War Crimes Commission following the war.
