Died: July 10, 1930 in London, England
1911: Proponent, Proposition 2 (Establishing county 'home rule' rights vs. California)
1918: Primary Candidate for CD-10 (Won, but withdrew in deference to Henry Z. Osborne)

- ON THE BALLOT TWICE: Because Benedict won the CD-10 Special Election in November 1916 (but not the 1916 General Election), he served only the balance of that term, which ended March 3, 1917. These 117 days of service made him the shortest-serving Congressman from California.
