  • Be Fruitful and Multiply: Wemple had seven children.
  • Bernice married long-time Assembly Chief Clerk Arthur Ohnimus in 1943. Ohnimus served as Chief Clerk from 1923-1963.
  • NOTABLE NO VOTE (Child Labor): This legislator was one of 9 State Assemblymembers (and twelve legislators total) who voted against AJR 1 (1925) by Frank C. Weller, which provided California's ratification of what was called the Child Labor Amendment, a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which would have allowed Congress to regulate child labor. The constitutional amendment was ratified by California, but not by the required number of states and did not become law.
