  • CLOSE CONTEST: In the 2024 General Election, Steel initially led her opponent Derek Tran by more than 5% (11,000 votes) on election night. The lead eroded consistently in the days after and Tran took a narrow 36 vote lead on November 16th (11 days after the election).
  • NOTE: Shawn Steel has long been involved in the California Republican Party; serving as Treasurer (1995-1999), Vice Chair (1999-2001) and Chairman (2001-2003). At present, he is the National Committeeman for the California Republican Party (2008-Present). He was a 2020 Delegate to the Republican National Convention and a 2020 Candidate for Presidential Elector for Donald Trump (Lost).
