- LEGISLATION: Author of AB 700 (1959) which established a method of grading gasoline so that the motorist can better know the quality of the gasoline they are purchasing.
- His obituary in the San Jose Mercury News, it was noted that Gov. Pat Brown had said about Allen, "I find it absolutely impossible to work with him."
- In 1998, Douglas B. Allen was a candidate for a seat on the West Valley/Mission Joint Community College District; he lost with 26.9%. In 2000, Douglas was a candidate for County of Santa Clara Superior Court; he lost with 28.9%. He ran again for Superior Court in 2006, losing with 32.73%.
