  • In 1965, Stanton was the target of two attempted recalls led by Jerome J. Ducote and Frederick S. Reinheimer. The recalls failed to qualify for the ballot.
  • Stanton was the California state legislator with the second longest life (101.6 years) behind only Willard M. Huyck. He lived 30 years before starting his service in the Assembly and nearly 58 after leaving office.
  • Burglary: In the mid-1960s, Stanton's home was broken into by former Deputy Sheriff Jerry Ducote. Ducote, who confessed to the break-in, also admitted to burglaries at the offices of the United Farm Workers, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the People's World newspaper, and the home and offices of Saul Alinsky. Ducote claimed in a statement that the break-ins occured after he had met with a CIA agent in Washington, and with Congressman Charles Gubser. (Source: NY Times)
  • QUOTABLE: "If re-elected, I promise to continue to work for a more humane society, one in which our tremendous production potential is put to work for all our people. I am convinced that we possess enough material and human resources to provide both physical comfort and cultural enrichment for all Americans." (Los Gatos Times-Saratoga Observer)
